The study "The Role of Governments in Promoting Corporate Responsibility and private Sector Engagement in Development" describes recent trends and developments in CR public policy in the international arena and illustrates policy options for governments in promoting CR with a number of examples across the world.
The report aims at assisting governments in considering their menu of options specific to the respective national context and/or a thematic issue that they seek to address – whether human rights, labor, the environment, anti-corruption and/or business engagement, among others. It was prepared as a background paper for the ministerial meeting in the eve of the Global Compact Summit 2010 in New York.
