Beschreibung

The report focuses on the COVID-19 situation in the United States during the year 2020, which was also the last of the Trump presidency. That year, the country entered the COVID-19 crisis with a specific mix of strengths and weaknesses. As one of the world’s wealthiest and most powerful countries, the United States went into the crisis with a strong economy and a low unemployment rate. But the country is also marked by high levels of economic inequality and a limited safety net that is characterized by the absence of universal health coverage and comparatively meager family and social assistance benefits which have created social vulnerabilities associated with what is known as a liberal welfare regime (Esping-Andersen, 1990).
