Estonia – a country in the cloud. The small country has managed to ensure the greatest internet freedom with the best security – a feat unique in Europe and worldwide. This achievement is a product of the efforts of the country’s former president, Toomas Hendrik Ilves (2006-2016), the recipient of this year’s Reinhard Mohn Prize. During his presidency, Toomas Hendrik Ilves successfully advanced the goals of digitization while ensuring the inclusion of all citizens.
