The 2020 Reinhard Mohn Prize on "Fostering Innovation. Unlocking Potential" is being awarded to Nechemia ("Chemi") Peres, Chairman of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation. In bestowing the prize, we are recognizing the entrepreneur for his outstanding efforts to promote innovation that serves both business and society. Due to the corona pandemic, the award ceremony will take place in 2021.

Germany and Israel face similar challenges and opportunities when it comes to globalization and digitalization. Which synergies could result from an innovation exchange? What would successful cooperation look like? As our study German and Israeli Innovation – The Best of Two Worlds shows: Networking is crucial for shaping German-Israeli partnerships. Innovative platforms, moreover, facilitate the interactions that can make those partnerships happen.

“Go far. Come close.” The first German-Israeli Pitch Night presented innovative startups from Israel and East Westphalia to an audience of 200 guests. Thanks to the concrete examples discussed, it also showed how both ecosystems can learn from each other.

What are the best approaches to living together in diversity? The Reinhard Mohn Prize 2018 focused on identifying answers to this question. Social inclusion, political participation, a sense of belonging and interpersonal interaction are key to making living together in diversity work.

On June 7 the 2018 Reinhard Mohn Prize on the topic "Living Diversity – Shaping Society" was awarded to former German President Joachim Gauck at Gütersloh Theater. In bestowing the award, we honored Gauck for his role as a bridgebuilder in a culturally diverse society.

Highly qualified bankers from the EU, "guest workers" from Turkey, refugees from Syria – Germany's cities are experiencing cultural diversity in a variety of ways, and their responses are equally distinct. The communities range from mostly homogenous small and midsized cities to mega-diverse metropolises that benefit from the numerous cultures present there.

Half of Germans would like immigrants to adapt to mainstream society. One third would prefer a merging of cultures – and among younger people, this is even the majority view. These are the findings of a special analysis of our Religion Monitor, in which we investigated attitudes among the German population about successful coexistence in cultural diversity.

The Belgian city of Mechelen is showing the way forward in efforts to live well together in diversity. While visiting the city, Liz Mohn was introduced to its diversity strategies that have been identified as outstanding examples of good practices as part of the international research conducted for the Reinhard Mohn Prize 2018.
