The quality of democracy, market economy and governance is declining worldwide. It is at its lowest level since 2004 - when the Bertelsmann Stiftung's Transformation Index (BTI) was first published.

The quality of democracy, market economy and governance in 137 developing and transformation countries has continuously fallen over the past ten years and reached a new low. This is the result of the Transformation Index BTI 2020 , whose most important findings are summarized in this video by Hauke Hartmann, Senior Expert at the Bertelsmann Stiftung.
