News Item, , Gütersloh: Werner Weidenfeld resigns from Bertelsmann Stiftung Board

Professor Werner Weidenfeld will step down from the Bertelsmann Stiftung executive board with effect from Nov 30, 2007. In his more than 20 years with the foundation, Professor Weidenfeld has made important contributions to the Bertelsmann Stiftung's success. The foundation and Professor Weidenfeld are parting ways by mutual consent, as he sets out to tackle new challenges.

The Bertelsmann Stiftung will fulfill all of its contract obligations to the Centre for Applied Political Research (CAP) at Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU), an institute under Professor Weidenfeld's management. The foundation's long years of cooperation with the CAP have met with high acclaim among the academic and political public.

As a political consultant of great academic repute, Professor Weidenfeld will continue to attend to Bertelsmann Stiftung's ongoing projects at the CAP through the end of 2008. The Bertelsmann Stiftung thanks Professor Werner Weidenfeld for the long years of successful cooperation.
